Spence, who currently resides in a Mississippi jail, pleaded guilty in an Adams County courtroom this week to concealing the homicidal death of Thomas Brannen.
Brannen's body was dumped in a rock quarry near Lima in 1984. The long-standing cold case was known by local law enforcement as "Marvin the Mummy".
Spence confessed in a jailhouse interview earlier this year.
The plea does not mean Spence won't eventually be charged with Brannen's murder. That investigation continues.
Authorities believe Brannen was killed in Kentucky and Spence allegedly brought his body back to Adams County to dump it.
