Tae Kwon Do classes
Monday, October 13, 2008 - Monday, December 8, 2008Tae Kwon Do classes sponsored by Quincy Park District: Youth – Oct. 13 – Dec. 8, meets Mon. and Thurs. each week, 4 – 5 p.m. at Emerson Community Center. For youth 6 – 12 years. $35. Tae Kwon Do can help youth improve fitness, self-esteem and mental alertness. Adult – Oct. 13 – Dec. 8, meets Mon. and Thurs. each week, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Emerson Community Center. $35. Students have the opportunity to compete in tournaments. Adults practice Tae Kwon Do for fitness, self defense and sport. Both classes are instructed by Western Illinois Martial Arts, World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Aerobic kick boxing
Monday, October 13, 2008 - Monday, December 8, 2008Quincy Park District will sponsor an aerobic kick boxing class for anyone 16 and older. The class meets Mondays and Thursdays at Emerson Community Center, 1310 Washington in Quincy, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 13 and continuing through Dec. 8. Instructors from Western Illinois Martial Arts, World Tae Kwon Do Federation conduct the class. Cost is $35. Participants can increase strength, endurance and flexibility through low-impact kicks, punches and weight training that is easy on joints. Special floor padding increases comfort and safety. Low-impact fitness exercise
Monday, October 27, 2008 - Monday, December 15, 2008Quincy Park District will offer a low-impact fitness exercise class, beginning Oct. 27 and continuing through Dec. 15. The class meets at 5:30 p.m. for one hour at Emerson Community Center, 1310 Washington in Quincy, on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. Each session includes warm-up, floor exercises, cool-down and stretches. Low-impact exercise is easy on joints. Participants should bring a floor mat and wear athletic shoes. Robyn Ebbing is the instructor. Cost: $30. Open to men and women. Registration required. Dashing Through The Snow

Youth sports classes
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - Wednesday, December 17, 2008Quincy Park District is now taking registrations for two youth sports classes. Tiny tots team sports is an introduction to team sports for children ages 3 – 5. The class meets on Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m., beginning Nov. 5 and continuing through Dec. 17. While this class allows children to learn and practice age-appropriate athletic skills, it also gives them an opportunity to interact with others. Introduction to basketball is for 5 – 8 year olds. It begins Nov. 5 and continues each Wednesday through Dec. 17, 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Participants in this class learn basic basketball fundamentals and play scrimmage games. Each class is $18 per child. Sessions are held at Emerson Community Center, 1310 Washington, Quincy. Registration required. Lincoln Slept Here Exhibit Opens
Saturday, October 4, 2008 - Sunday, December 28, 2008The Gardner Museum of Architecture and Design opens "Lincoln Slept Here" exhibit at the museum on Saturday, October 4. The exhibit will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 1-4 each day until December 28. Admission is $3 for adults, $1.50 for children 9 and under. KARAOKE AT KRIEGER'S

3rd Annual JWCC Earth Day
Friday, April 17, 2009 - Saturday, April 18, 2009This 3rd Annual two-day event includes electronics recycling collection on Friday and Saturday. Saturday will also include a full day of speakers and mini-seminars about "green" topics, educational hands-on activities, lots of vendor booths featuring green products and services, a recycled art exhibit and recycled art contest awards reception. This is a fun educational event for the whole family. This event is FREE and open to the public.
