Titan Tire's first shipment of 63-inch giant tires are now being used in mining applications in Canada's oil sands.
"Titan's 63-inch giant tires continue to run with success," said Titan Chairman and CEO Maurice M. "Morry" Taylor Jr. in a company release. "These tires have surpassed each standard we've set for them, and we expect only the best from our products. We continue to increase p oduction everyday on these big daddy 63-inch tires and plan to roll out 57-inch OTR tires this year. As the video taken in the oils sands shows, even with a load over 400 tons, the tires run great."
Titan Tire, a subsidiary of Titan International Inc., shipped its first giant 63-inch off-the-road (OTR) tire and wheel assemblies on July 29. These tires are nearly 14 feet tall and weight about 12,500 pounds.
"A lot of people in the industry doubted that Titan could build these giant tires in less than a year," Taylor said.
