Mayor announces new industry at neighborhood meeting

by Bob Gough, editor, QuincyNews.org

During Tuesday night's neighborhood meeting, Quincy Mayor John Spring announced a new industry is moving to Quincy.

When asked about it after the meeting, Spring said he was not ready to give details. The only hint he gave the crowd of about 50 people in attendance at the Redmon and Lee Community Center was that it was going "west of 12th Street."

Spring told the audience has has been talking to two businesses coming to the community and one of them will make some grants to Redmon and Lee. He would not give the name of either of the businesses.

I wish the mayor would use his bully pulpit to complain about the gas supplier to Quincy. Last week while prices were $3.47 in Hannibal on Tuesday it was $3.79 here. It took until Saturday to lower it to $3.57 but it went up .18 this morning to $3.79. It's $3.68 in Springfield and $3.37 in Mexico, MO & $3.47 in Hannibal. WTF.. They start mouthing excuses about a hurricane that hasn't even landed. The price of oil hasn't gone up enough to justify .18 raise today.
