Seven Simple Steps To Identity Theft Prevention

Let's cut to the chase here folks. If someone wants to make you their victim in an identity theft scheme, there's little you can do about it.

So, what's the best defense you may ask? Educate yourself and be very careful in handling your personal information. Here are seven steps as provided in a recent article by Subhendu Zabada of American Chronicle.
  1. Do not provide anyone information online or over the phone.
  2. Buy and use a good paper shredder. Shred everything with even your name on it.
  3. Keep personal documents LOCKED even at home.
  4. Consider a locking mail box. That would keep prying hands out of your mail.
  5. Do not carry your Social Security Card, birth certificate or similar items.
  6. Password security. Use a combination of letters and numbers, nothing common.
  7. Buy credit monitoring! You will get an email alert of every action on your credit file.
